Description
For auction is a size 14 x 5 ½” vintage white marine pearl wrapped snare drum shell probably from the 1960s.There is a “K” stamped inside the shell.
I have received information from a couple of the experts on eBay that it was made by Star in Japan in the 1960s.
White marine pearl wrap has been cleaned and waxed and has a decent finish except for extra holes.
It has 8 of what looks like Sound King lugs but when you look at the inside, they are different (see photo of back).
It has a 1-ply (maple?) or 3-ply shell with inside reinforcing rings about 3/4” wide, edges are rounded.
There is no badge but one that was there appears to have been oval or rounded from marks on the wrap. Holes are there for badge, throw off etc. with some extra holes.
Holes have been filled with putty and can be easily drilled out. Original throw off and butt plate holes appear to be the groups of 3 and 4 holes across from each other.
The two holes across from the installed butt plate do not look original but would work with a Ludwig P-83 or P-85 style throw off.
Auction is for shell with attached lugs and butt plate only, no other parts, heads, hoops etc.
Shipping by UPS Ground in the Continental US is .00.
